MOST AMERICANS ARE FOOLED BY DONALD TRUMP

Who Really Started the Stimulus Checks?
Many Americans think that former President Donald Trump was the one who came up with the idea of sending stimulus checks during the COVID-19 crisis. Not true. The idea actually came from Democrats in Congress. One of the strongest voices pushing for direct payments to working and poor Americans was, Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She and other Democrats wanted to help everyday people who were struggling to pay their bills because of the virus. They pushed for checks that would go directly to individuals and families to help them get through tough times. Most Americans are fooled by Donald Trump. Americans thought he was the one created the stimulus check. Infact, he did not want to give them out even though the covid had hit. However, once the stimulus payments gained strong public and bipartisan support, the President signed off on them as part of the CARES Act and later claimed credit.
Representative Jasmine Crockett publicly clarified that President Trump was not the originator of the stimulus checks and even delayed them because he wanted his name on the payments. She emphasized that it was actually Congress, dominated by Democrats at that time, that passed the legislation to provide direct payments to Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her statements point out that while Trump signed the bill, the idea and push for stimulus checks came primarily from Democrats, and his claiming credit was misleading to many Americans. Trump only signed the bill after being pressured to do so. Trump had initially focused more on helping big businesses and was reluctant to support direct payments to people. So, while Trump did sign the law and put his name on the checks to take credit, the real credit go to the push that came from Democrats, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and others in Congress who fought to get money directly into the hands of struggling Americans.
